Fulfillment

Fulfilling work contributes to a
fulfilled and energized life.
Our internal resources are limited,
so how we spend time and energy matters. Psychological Science has shown us that people who don’t figure this out
operate at a deficit and will soon be drained, both in and out of work.

Focus

Good organizations laser-focus on mission.
Similarly, individuals on mission are clear about who they are and what they value.
They know how to make good decisions, navigate challenging situations, and
get into positions where they thrive,
all because they have an unwavering focus.
Unfocused people and organizations fail
to reach their potential.

Success

Psychological Science indicates that vocational success is constrained by misalignment between
what we do and who we are.
Aligning your work and decision-making
to your strengths, skills, and passions
is fundamental to increased success.,
for both individuals and organizations.

Testimonials

Authenticity is a gift that helps someone see their blind spots, and seeing our blind spots allows us to thrive and live our best lives. Garth is authentic. For that, I’m grateful to know him personally and professionally.

Garth is a joy to work with. He is patient, listens well, and has the gift of being able to work with a wide variety of people successfully. He is also skilled at taking big-picture views of situations and is an innovative thinker.

For me, he was a great professional partner on a large, national project for the American Psychological Association (APA). He knows how to collaborate and move effectively towards accomplishing even the most challenging goals.

Garth is an inspiring and engaging presenter for both large and small groups. I’ve seen audiences enthralled by him in many professional contexts. He has a gift for connecting with diverse groups and making psychological science meaningful and accessible. After seeing him run a phenomenal workshop on identifying one’s personal mission to maximize effectiveness, I invited Garth to Ohio State University to speak to our General Education faculty.

The strategies he shared a year ago are something we are still actively engaging within our program.

What to Expect

Red arrow point down indicating the 4 phases of the process

Phase 1 - Prepare for Mission:

Initial sessions will be used to gain clarity about your history, values, challenges, and goals. The psychological basis for mission and professional alignment will be discussed.

Phase 2 - Plan for Mission:

Garth will guide you through the Mission Assessment which will lead to the development of a personal-professional mission to guide your work and work-related decisions.

Phase 3 - Get On Mission:

Your mission will be tested in the workplace. You will be coached through work- and career-related decisions that seek to align who you are with what you do.

Phase 4 - Stay On Mission:

Services may now proceed in a customized way with as little or as much structure as you prefer. Frequently, mission statements need to be adjusted or revisited in their real-world application. If On Mission Consulting is a good long-term fit for you, we may schedule regular meetings that keep you thriving with personal-professional alignment.
